Governors

The Academy Trust is a company limited by guarantee and an exempt charity. The charitable company's memorandum and articles of association are the primary governing documents of the Academy Trust.

The governors are the trustees of Steiner Academy Frome and are also the directors of the charitable company for the purposes of company law. Details of the governors are below:

The Governing body operates through a number of Sub-Committees. These are:

Teaching and Learning Committee

The terms of reference for the Teaching and Learning Committee are to meet termly, or as needed, in order to maintain an overview of:

  • teaching and learning throughout the school
  • progress and achievement of pupil
  • curriculum development
  • the professional development of teachers

Child Safety and Welfare Committee

The terms of reference for the Child Safety and Welfare Committee are to hold an overview of the safety and well-being of children at the school and to monitor and question the role and practice of the school, its leadership team and staff in these areas.

Finance and Premises

With regard to financial matters, this Committee supports the Governors in their duty to oversee the effective financial management of the school, including maintaining an overview of the 3 -5 year financial plan and the on-going budget position.

Personnel Committee

With regard to personnel and HR this Committee supports the Governors in their duty to oversee all aspects of employment, recruitment, staff welfare, staff and Governor training and appraisals. To ensure that all recruitment procedures follow or exceed safer recruitment recommendations.

Admissions

The terms of reference for the Admissions Committee are to oversee all aspects of admissions, ensure that they comply with latest legislation and to ensure the correct implementation of the Admisisons arrangements

Travel Plan

The Travel Plan committee supports the Governor's overview of the physical and ecological impact of the school with children travelling to and from the site. The committee oversees the implementation of the travel plan.
